NTU in cash-for-electives controversy

Fit to Post – Yahoo! Singapore’s blog » Blog Archive NTU in cash-for-electives controversy «.

Students from Nanyang Technological University (NTU) are paying as much as three-figure sums to get the electives that they want.

This practice is nothing new and NTU has also admitted that they are aware of such cases.

The article also quoted several NTU undergraduates on how the trading happens.

I wonder if any of my friends paid for their modules in NTU.

NUS ranks third among top universities in Asia –  Singapore News – XinMSN News.

National University of Singapore (NUS) has been ranked third in the latest Quacquarelli Symonds (QS) Asian University Rankings (AUR).

Nanyang Technological University (NTU) was ranked 18th.

Hong Kong took top honours with University of Hong Kong ranked first and  Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST) ranked second.

You can find out more about the methodology and academic criteria on the QS AUR website.

NUS was ranked 10th and NTU 14th in the 2009 rankings.

You can view the comparison between the 2009 and 2010 rankings on the interactive AUR rankings.

It is interesting to note that if we look at the QS World University Rankings 2009, the University of Tokyo is the highest-ranked Asian University (while the AUR 2009 shows University of Hong Kong as the top Asian University).

So which ranking should we believe in?
